REFLECTION ON TEACHING PRACTICE

I am a beginner in the ICT world and I am very surprised because of the great amount of resources that exist in relation to teach English as a second language.

Things in English teaching have changed a lot in the last years, fortunately, a change for the better.

We are very lucky to have the opportunity to use a lot of resources to prepare our future lessons for primary children.

When I was a child, my English teacher used traditional methods and all of us learnt English, basically grammar without listening or speaking. To sum up, we only learnt basic English to write something.

Now, we can find a lot of resources and ideas through ICT. The use of new technologies is very important to develop our pupils´ English skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking)

Searching on you tube, I have found a couple of videos I invited to see and think about their content, I mean, about the importance of using new technologies in education.

And what about this?

The current methods that are available through ICT are very useful to teach children to speak English in an appropriate and fun way. 

From my point of view, it is the only way they speak English fluently in the future.

So we (teachers) have to work very hard to get children to getting learn English as a Second language and this achievement must be get trough new technologies and our good teaching practice.

For this reason, this subject is very important in our preparation as future teachers.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TEACHING ESL

English as a language has spread to almost all parts of the world and for this reason, children have to start learning this language when they are little in a fun way.

The growth of English language in primacy schools is actually based on the issue of bilingualism. Nowadays, all new schools are bilingual.

For this reason, the need for the use of Information Communication Technologies or ICT in language teaching programme is indispensable.

ICT provides the basic technology for assisting language learners to acquire important communication skills in English language.

From my point of view, the English language teacher must be conversant with new technologies of information and communication to attain a good level of efficiency.

Anyway, there are another important aspect to bear in mind. Reading different webs, I found a sentence that impresses me. The sentence was written by Mark Warschaver :

...." The key to successful use of technology in language teaching lies not in hardware or software but in humanware-our human capacity as teachers to plan, design and implement effective educational activity."
